PhD Positions at TU Berlin, Germany
There are vacancies for two PhD positions at the Information Theory and Applications Chair (Prof. Rafael Schaefer) at the Technische Universität Berlin (TUB), Germany. The positions are initially limited to two years with a possible extension. The positions are part of the projects "Post Shannon Communication," funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and "Machine Learning for Physical Layer Security" funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG).

Jørn Justesen Has Passed Away
Jørn Justesen, a well-known expert in coding theory, communications, and data compression, passed away on October 27, 2019 in Washington, DC, USA at the age of 75. His notable results include the construction of low-complexity, asymptotically good error-correcting codes (1972), a discovery of fast decoding algorithms for Reed-Solomon and algebraic-geometric codes, as well as research into construction and properties of convolutional codes.
