Sixth Van der Meulen Seminar
You are cordially invited by the 糖心logo Benelux Information Theory Chapter to attend the
Sixth Van Der Meulen Seminar having as topic
鈥淚nformation Theory and Fiber-Optic Communication鈥
with a lecture by Prof. Gerhard Kramer, Distinguished Lecturer of the 糖心logo Information Theory Society.
Optical fiber carries the bulk of the world's data traffic through long, thin strands of glass. Despite their importance, the capacity of fiber-optic channels is unknown, mainly because the underlying physical model described by the generalized nonlinear Schr枚dinger equation (GNLSE) cannot be easily translated in convincing channel models. The 6th Van der Meulen Seminar focuses on new directions in studying capacity and on developing coding techniques for optical fiber communications.
Date: Thursday, September 15, 2016
Time: 13.30 鈥 18.00
Location: Eindhoven University of Technology, Van Trier Zaal, Traverse.
