The Adaptive Networks, Dynamics and Inference (ANDI) Lab at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), led by , has an opening for a PhD student. The student will work on topics related to networks, information theory, machine learning and statistical inference. Potential projects may include, but are not limited to:
- Structure learning / causal graph discovery in networked dynamical systems
- Combinatorial learning problems in graphs (e.g., community detection, graph matching)
- Statistical inference in models of growing graphs
- Emergent / mean-field behaviors in large networks of interacting agents
The lab is looking for a highly motivated student with a strong mathematical background; experience with networks and information theory is a plus but not a requirement. Students will benefit from hands-on mentorship, funding for research travel, and interdisciplinary scientific training. Additionally, NJIT is a premier R1 research institute with a campus located minutes away from Manhattan and easily accessible by public transit.
