Joachim Hagenauer Has Passed Away
Professor Joachim Hagenauer passed away on January 16, 2026.
"With great sadness, I let you know that Joachim Hagenauer, professor emeritus of communications engineering at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), passed away on 16 January 2026, at the age of 84. He was an active member of our society, the president in 2001, and a leading researcher in Information Theory and Communications with many awards and achievements. Joachim was respected worldwide as an enthusiastic promoter of our field through his research, presentations, committee work, and educational initiatives. We shall miss him."
